Xiaobian,

I can really relate to this from back when I was dating. I was often the one who walked away when things got difficult, but I’ve also had moments when men walked away from me.

It made me realize that when there’s no real closure, you can stay stuck in something for a very long time. Sometimes, letting go is the only way to truly move forward. ❤️

Thank you for sharing this so openly, Natalie. ❤️ I really appreciate that you can look back and hold both sides of the experience—the times you were the one who walked away, and the times someone else left you with the unanswered space. That kind of honesty means a lot. I agree that the hardest part of an unclear ending is how long it can keep a small part of you waiting, even after the relationship itself has already stopped moving. Letting go can take time, but I think even recognizing that we’re still waiting is already a quiet kind of movement forward. Thank you for bringing your own experience into this piece so thoughtfully. 🩷

Exactly, Xiaoban.

I’ve also come to realize that I was allowed to simply close that chapter and let it go. That’s why I increasingly believe that certain things can come back into your reality, so that you can experience what it feels like to be both the person who causes something and the person on the receiving end of it.

I just don’t really like to look at things in terms of “victim” and “perpetrator,” because from my perspective, I believe that everything is ultimately part of a learning process.

Thank you for giving space for words like this.

Natalie, what stayed with me most was you saying that you realized you were allowed to simply close that chapter. ❤️ There’s something deeply freeing in that—not needing one final explanation before you’re allowed to leave something behind. And I understand what you mean about not wanting to reduce an entire relationship to fixed roles. Sometimes the same person can carry hurt, responsibility, tenderness, regret—all at once. I don’t think learning from an experience has to erase the pain or excuse what happened, but it can change the way we carry it afterward. Thank you for trusting this space with something so thoughtful and personal. 🥹🩷

You really put that beautifully, Xiaobian.

Even when a relationship ends in a healthy way, sometimes you can still remain emotionally stuck in it for a while. Because in your mind, you may have created this whole picture of how you thought things would be or could have been.

Honestly, I haven’t dated in a very long time. I wouldn’t even know how I would react to it now. I’m so focused on my peace and my own life that someone would have to be really, really special to change that. 😄

But then again, right now I might say that I would handle things very differently. The truth is, though, you never really know how you’re going to react until you’re actually in that situation. 😉

The crushing fatigue of waiting for an explanation that never comes turns that routine, ordinary farewell into a deeply haunting ghost that stays with you all day, Xiaobian..🥹

Priyanshu, you found the part of this one that still hurts me the most. 🥺🤍 It’s strange how an ordinary goodbye can become heavier with time when you keep believing an explanation might still arrive. Nothing dramatic happened in that last moment, so for a long time I didn’t know I was supposed to stop waiting. Maybe that’s why it stayed with me so vividly—the ending had already happened, but my heart was still living as if there were another page coming. Thank you for seeing that so deeply, my dear. The way you read what I leave between the lines always makes me feel very close to you. 🫂💗

Xiaobian, I think that’s what makes those moments so difficult. 🥹 It isn’t always the goodbye itself, but the unanswered questions we carry afterward. Sometimes accepting that there may never be another page is the hardest part, but also where we slowly begin to return to ourselves.. so touched by the last line you said my dear..🫂🩷

My dear, “there may never be another page” stayed with me. 🥺🤍 I think that was the part I resisted for the longest—not losing him in one moment, but losing the future I kept leaving room for. Maybe returning to ourselves begins there, in that small and painful shift when we stop asking the unanswered question to keep the story alive. Thank you for reading this so gently, dear. You always seem to notice the sentences that cost me something to write. 🫂💗

Xiaobian, I think you expressed that feeling so beautifully. 🥹 Sometimes the hardest thing to let go of is not the person, but the possibility of what could have been. Thank you for always understanding the emotions behind these small, difficult moments and holding them with such kindness. 🫂🩷
