Balancing the fear of recovery erasing your past pain with the gentle allowance to finally rest in the present shows such a beautiful, heartbreaking depth of human emotion, Xiaobian..🫶🏻🥹

Priyanshu, you found the exact tension I was trying to hold onto here. 🥹🤍 The strange part is that rest can feel almost suspicious after you’ve spent so long needing the pain to prove itself. Sometimes I think recovery asks for a different kind of courage—not to explain the past better, but to let the present be gentle without treating that gentleness as evidence against who I was then.

I’m really glad you noticed that balance, because I didn’t want the ending to “solve” anything. I only wanted to let both truths stay in the room at once: that the old pain was real, and that I’m allowed to close my eyes now. Thank you for reading me with that kind of care, Priyanshu. 🫶

Xiaobian, I think that’s one of the hardest parts of healing, realizing that letting yourself feel okay doesn’t mean what happened before mattered any less. 🥹🩷 The pain was real, and so is the peace that comes after it. Both can exist together. Thank you for sharing these layers so honestly..🫶🏻

Priyanshu, I think that’s the part I’m still learning too. 🥹💗 Peace can feel strangely disloyal when pain has carried so much of your history—as if feeling okay now might somehow edit the record of what happened then.

But I love the way you put it: both can exist together. Maybe peace doesn’t ask the pain to become less true. It just stops asking it to stay present every day in order to be believed. Thank you for meeting me in this thought a little longer. 🫂

Xiaobian, I think that’s such a difficult truth to learn, that peace doesn’t erase the pain that shaped us. 🥹🩷 The past can still matter without having to hold the same weight every day. I’m grateful you shared this journey of thoughts so openly, and I’m glad we could sit with both sides of it together. 🫶🏻🫂
