This was beautifully written. I especially loved the realization that this imagined version of yourself wasn't the enemy; she was a shelter. There’s something so compassionate about looking back at the ways we learned to protect ourselves and, instead of judging them, recognizing that they once served a purpose. Maybe healing isn't about getting rid of those parts of ourselves, but thanking them for how they helped us survive while slowly learning that we no longer need them to live for us—really beautiful piece.
