This piece functions as a deeply resonant critique of the tyranny of self-imposed milestones, masterfully contrasting an idealised vision of life with the heavy reality of burnout. This proves that leaving behind an outdated draft of yourself is not defeat, but the beginning of real self-sovereignty 🤍

Thank you for reading it this way. “Self-sovereignty” stayed with me, because the hardest part was not missing the milestones themselves—it was realizing how long I had allowed an earlier version of me to keep governing the life I was actually living.

Leaving that draft behind did not feel like freedom at first. It felt like betraying someone I had once promised to become. Maybe that is why reclaiming a life can look so much like failure before it begins to feel like your own. I’m deeply grateful you saw the beginning inside that ending.
