this is such a sharp, unsettling reflection on the way generosity can quietly become a transaction for belonging. the ending hit harder than expected. 🤍

Thank you, pranshi. You named the part I was most afraid of making too simple: the generosity was real, and the need underneath it was real too. That’s what made the line between giving and transaction so difficult to see from the inside. I could genuinely want to care for someone and still be listening for the reply, the thank-you, the small proof that I still had a place.

I’m really glad the ending reached you. For me, the harder realization was that stopping the spending wasn’t the whole work. I also had to ask whether I could still believe I belonged when I had nothing to offer. Thank you for reading this with so much care. 🤍

We focus so much on the impulsive spending part of mania, but we completely ignore the deep, hollow loneliness that drives it. Trying to scatter sweetness to the world when your own inner house is completely collapsing takes a massive emotional toll. Thank you for being this honest.. :)

Thank you, Priyanshu. I really appreciate how carefully you read this. What you said about scattering sweetness while the inner house is collapsing stayed with me.

For me, that was the harder part to write about. The spending was visible; the need underneath it was much quieter. Every thank-you, every reply, every small moment of being needed could make the giving feel as though it was working—even while something inside me was being emptied out. That is what made the line between generosity and desperation so difficult to see from the inside.

Thank you for meeting this piece with so much care. It means a lot, especially because this was not an easy one to put into words. 🫶

That distinction between the visible spending and the quiet need underneath is exactly what makes this piece so incredibly real. Thank you for being so brave..🫶🏻

That really means a lot, Priyanshu. I think some of the hardest things to write are the ones that looked almost ordinary from the outside. I’m grateful you saw the quieter need underneath, not just the spending itself. Thank you for staying with this piece so gently. 🫶
