“There is exactly one centimeter between us. Neither of us has ever crossed it.”
That image stayed with me throughout the whole piece. Sometimes the smallest distance between two people carries everything - longing, fear, tenderness, and all the things both already know but are not yet ready to name.
And I love the truth underneath this: knowing we are loved and feeling safe enough to receive that love are two very different things.
You understood the one centimeter exactly. It was never empty space, but a place crowded with everything they both knew and still could not risk. What I wanted to protect in this piece was that love can be mutual and still feel too dangerous to receive. Thank you for seeing both the tenderness and the fear inside it.
We were like two lamps swaying alone in a storm — close enough to light each other, yet both afraid our light might burn the other person.
These lines along with the whole story felt so relevant, felt such a deep affection for the true lovers and their commitment to not give up on each other! That was fantastic! Glad to see such type of love exits till now!
Thank you for reading it so closely. I’m especially glad the image of the two lamps stayed with you. What moved me most while writing this was how love can remain careful without becoming any less real — how two people can be afraid of hurting each other and still keep choosing not to disappear. I’m grateful the story found you.
Thank you for writing this so tenderly. 🫶

That means a lot to hear. 🫶 Thank you for trusting me with what you were protecting beneath the words.
